GOOD MORNING, BOHEMIA by Patrick Newson

I woke early and
Str       e       t       c       h       e       d.

The sun poured through the half-open blinds to
Leave an
A
R
P
E
G
G
I
O
Of stripes on my
Futon mattress.

When I rose, I made breakfast.
All organic.  All sustainable.  Shade grown.

Menu:  Two eggs, nice and easy.
Three strips of bacon, slightly burnt,
Hint of honey
Two slices of toast,
Wheat
Raspberry jam.

As I ate, my tea steeped.
As I bathed, my tea cooled.

Then I retired to my roof-top veranda
With my tea, hint of lemon,
A cigarette
And a book of short stories by Ernest Hemingway.
They were concise.
It has been a good morning.

After I do the dishes
I might continue to                     y
all
