AWP 2014 Events

If you’re looking for some fun events and readings at AWP 2014 in Seattle we’ve assembled a short list where some of our past, current, and future contributors will be reading. These are ones found on AWP’s official off-site event list, if there’s one that we missed that you’d like us to share please let us know!

An off-site reading in Queen Anne, featuring a delightful combination of readers, and complimentary wine, hosted by Small Doggies Press. Doors at 7pm, reading from 7:30pm to 9:30pm, Friday February 28th, 2014.

15 McGraw Street, Seattle WA, 98109. It is a half block EAST of Queen Anne Ave (*Note* there is a 15 W. McGraw that is west of Queen Anne Ave.—not to be confused—just follow our map.) The reading space is located in a studio behind a residence. You may park in the parking lot just across the street from the address.

IAIA MFA Faculty Reading

Faculty members from the Institute of American Indian Arts’ Low Residency MFA Program will read poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Readers include Sherwin Bitsui, Jon Davis, Natalie Diaz, Santee Frazier, Melissa Febos, Joan Kane, Susan Power, Ken White, and Orlando White.

VIDA: Women In Literary Arts Leave it to VIDA!

Cost: $10 minimum donation
Join us for readings by VIDA supporters Cheryl Strayed, Nick Flynn, Pam Houston, Natalie Diaz, Melissa Febos, Kate Lebo and Alexander Chee, come help VIDA lampoon the bad ol’ days of the post war domestic. Readings start at 10pm.

Mouth to Mouth: A Reading

Seattle University Northwest Writers Celebration

Come celebrate regional writers from the Pacific Northwest at Seattle University’s beautiful 6th floor faculty lounge in the newly remodeled Lemieux Library! Sex, Death and Memoir Reading

A reading hosted by alumnae of Lidia Yuknavitch’s Ecstatic States Workshop about busting open what it means to ‘write sex’ and ‘write the body.’ We’ll read from our bones, from the skin and from the most precise (or gloriously imprecise) moments of contact.

Adult Bedtime Stories

Five writers will present “adult” short fiction and celebrate the publication of Suzy Vitello’s debut novel, The Moment Before (Diversion Books). Sharing the stage are Chuck Palahniuk, Chelsea Cain, Monica Drake and Lidia Yuknavitch. Ticket includes a copy of Suzy’s book. Wear PJ’s is plus. Limited seating is available.
