AWP Conference & Bookfair 2014

We’re headed north for that big, crazy conference thing. Portland Review will have a table (CC16 in the South Hall) at this year’s AWP conference and bookfair. Five of us (Brian, Meaghan, Ariana, Sabrina, and myself (Alex)) are journeying up to Seattle next weekend for this massive beast that could easily be considered a literary festival of words, thought, wares, and debauchery.

This is the fourth time in recent history (according to the AWP conference archives) that Portland Review will appear at the conference. While we won’t be hosting any events, we’re super excited to visit Seattle, attend fantastic panels and readings, and share the work of our contributors. We’ll have a fine selection of our issues, including our Fall 2013 issue, and other neat merchandise (posters, t-shirts, and more!). Please stop by and say hello if you’re attending. We’d love to hear from our supporters (and yes, maybe even our enemies)!

Over the next few days we’ll be compiling a list of readings that feature past and present contributors. If you’re a contributor who is reading at an event feel free to contact us and let us know.

Compiled below is a short list of bookfair exhibitors we’re psyched to see. In case you haven’t found your way to the official full list and bookfair map, you can check out the AWP site here.

Other local Portland and surrounding area literary organizations, publishers, and magazines also exhibiting: Burnside Review (T13), CALYX, Inc. (A37), Hawthorne Books (CC38), Independent Publishing Resource Center (G7), Literary Arts (300), Octopus Books and Poor Claudia (L12), PSU’s MFA (AA39), PSU’s Publishing MA and Ooligan Press (C13), Small Doggies Press (M17), and Tin House (1704). Phew, if there’s anyone I missed please let us know!

Some friends of ours (or mine, at least) that you should check out: Brevity (A40), New Ohio Review (A1), Hayden’s Ferry Review (1005), Otis Books and Graduate Writing (M19), and Quarter After Eight (A2).

We hope to see you there! Stay tuned for more updates on our conference adventures.
